For thousands of years people are using kilns for various purposes.. Nearly everybody has in his life already heard about charcoal kilns, pottery kilns or brick kilns. If we are talking here about kilns we mainly talking (writing) about kilns to fire ceramics (pottery and/or bricks). The design and the function of a charcoal kiln is totally different and so it’s off topic on this site . But if you are in need of a high efficient charcoal kiln, write us an email and we discuss your project.
In General a kiln is simply a structure where heat is applied inside. The source of this heat can be electricity, LPG, natural gas, oil or waste oil and biomass (firewood, rice husks, dry dung etc.). Then we have continuous firing processes and non continuous firing processes. The kiln desingn changes accordingly.
Kiln construction is a challenge, especially in least develloped countries (LDC)! Because there are normally no standardized fireresistant materials availiable and to import everything will normally exceed the budget excessivly.

We are still working on this website about kiln construction in general and in addition the special challenges in LDC.
